A cool autumn afternoo, brilliant yellow aspen, a few ducks on the poind, a vanvas and some paint provide a perfect get-away for a landscape painter. I hop you like it.
If you love the outdoors at all, you need to visit the Maroon Bells at least once. We set up for this painting before the sun came up. As soon as the sun came over the peaks to the left, I had about 20 minutes before the entire scen was changed to full sunlight. It was still beautiful but not as dramatic as the first light I was after. So I began with the drawing, the distant lit areas and the reflections in the mirror smooth lake. Check it out!
Escape from the Toybox
These toys made this painting a lot of fun to do. Still lifes give us an opportunity to review our fundamentals and sharpen our skills. This particular subject includes a variety of textures from the shiny wooden truck, the soft foam ball, the fuzzy bear, the wicker basket and the plant leaves to compare and contrast. I hope you have as much fun painting them as I did.
