I am a full time artist that works primarily with art galleries so a natural question for you might be why am I doing this?  Well, the short answer is I have grown tired over the years of artists who have descended from Marcel Duchamp's urinal, The Fountain, looking down on the work of those of us who work in a more traditional manner without a rebuttal.  This website is my rebuttal.

We live in exciting times.  There are big ideas in conflict and the technology to spread them has never been more advanced.  And to be honest some of those ideas threaten the country and life most of us hold dear.

​

So even though it's a little outside my job description, it's time for me to speak up and maybe even create a bit of a forum for discussion of those ideas...one of which has changed the world.

We'll also be posting some instruction videos as we get them done. 

​

Okay.  I can hear some of you saying, "I just want to paint/draw.  I'm here because I like art." Well,  so do I.  That's the reason I started down this very unpredictable path many years ago and it has led me to see places and the world in ways I could never have dreamed when I began.

​But part of what we do here is to give you a heads up when we see ideas or ways of thinking we would otherwise reject, being slipped into the arts.  Another way to say it might be "There are some poisoned pieces of candy in the candy jar.  Or there is a snake in the garden where your easel is set up.  So just be aware."​

Number one, we want to make better art and enjoy it.  But number two, there is some danger out there so we're not going to check our brains at the door.  And we won't be tricked into heading down the wrong path.

We all know there are many ideas of what art is.  That's probably the way it should be.  At NWAS, we just think all art, just like life, should be put in context with history and not pursued just because it's the latest...or the coolest.
