Northwood Art Studio Where Art Affirms Truth
It's probably not fashionable to say it, but we honor tradition here...if it has merit. We do evaluate things. Artists like Monet, Sargent, Chase, Sorolla and many others have given us a lot to learn. Painting in the footsteps of these masters has been inspiring. It has shown those works, that some relegate to the past, to be very much alive and relevant today.
We are about encouraging others to use Art "...to add to the string of pearls that is our heirloom from the past."* At the same time, we issue a warning to not be deceived into destroying that precious string of pearls in the interests of short term "sophisticated" change.
We enjoy painting in Europe to help understand how art was developed, learned and brought to America by outstanding artists like Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, William Merritt Chase and Augustus St. Gaudens; detailed in the Greater Journey by David McCullough.
But no matter how much I enjoy those wonderful places, there's just no place like America.
